Side Effects

Taking high dose of Thyronorm can cause nervousness, insomnia, increased blood pressure, high body temperature and loose stool. Rare side effect includes coma, convulsions, arrhythmia and acute psychosis.

Precaution

The absorption of this medicine decreases significantly in presence of food. Thyronorm needs to be taken on an empty stomach. Take this medicine one hour before eating breakfast.

Do not stop taking this medicine or change the dose without consulting your doctor. You may need to take this medicine for the rest of your life.

Inform your doctor right away if you think you are pregnant. Dose of Thyronorm usually have to be increase in pregnant hypothyroid patient.

Keep this medicine unreachable of children. Heavy dose of Thyronorm can cause serious side effect.

Can I take omeprazole and levothyroxine at the same time?

As per recommendation, Omeprazole and Levothyroxine should not be taken at the same time as because Omeprazole may decrease the absorption of Levothyroxine.

Take Levothyroxine at least one hour before taking Omeprazole and then take Omeprazole 30 minutes before taking your breakfast.

How long does it take levothyroxine to start working?

It depends upon person to person, however in general It takes 4 to 6 weeks for hypothyroid symptom to start disappearing.

Is it safe to take levothyroxine while breastfeeding?

Taking levothyroxine while breastfeeding is considered to be safe as because very little amount of levothyroxine can pass through breast milk.
